Skip Mahaffey

Skip Mahaffey began his radio career in 1980, mowing the station lawn by day and hosting a country show on a sunset-silenced AM station by night. Since then, he’s logged over 40 years behind the mic across markets from Tulsa to Tampa, collecting three CMA Awards, a Billboard Magazine award, and thousands of unforgettable conversations. Whether sharing the stage with country legends or singing gospel with Southern rockers, Skip’s journey has been equal parts unpredictable and inspiring.

In 2016, he pivoted from country to Contemporary Christian radio, joining K-LOVE’s nationwide network. After stepping down seven years later, he now hosts a morning show across several cities and devotes more time to his first love—writing. Skip’s passion for storytelling started with cartoon scripts and cheerleader speeches and evolved into radio bits, plays, and full-length memoirs, including Adventures With My Father.

His newest work draws from decades of interviews with artists, athletes, presidents, and everyday heroes. Through every interaction, Skip has pursued one goal: to find meaning, share lessons, and build better relationships. He lives outside Cincinnati with his wife of 44 years and two cats he’s convinced are plotting something.
