Sam Fadala

 

Sam Fadala is an award-winning author with a lifelong passion for storytelling, history, and adventure. Born in Albany, New York, he was raised in the barrios of South Tucson and has spent his life exploring the far reaches of the world, from the rugged landscapes of Wyoming to the cattle ranches of Sonora, Mexico, and the bushlands of South Africa. He holds residency in both the United States and Musina, Limpopo Province, South Africa, and has worked as a village aid worker in Zimbabwe.

A man of many talents, Sam has served as a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service, Fireman Engine 3 in Tucson, and Fireman Engine 1/Rescue 1 in Anchorage. He has also shared his knowledge as a teacher at Sahuarita High School, Arizona, and an instructor at Casper College, Wyoming. His academic achievements include an Honors B.S. from Northern Arizona University, an M.A. with Distinction from the University of Alaska, and a doctorate as a University of Arizona Doctoral Fellow.

Now a full-time author, Sam's works span genres, from gripping Western fiction to practical guides. His novels include The Last Ride of Shadow Briggs and Death Stalks Apache Oro, the latter earning the prestigious Will Rogers Medallion Award for Best Western Fiction. He has also authored The Complete Guide to Game Care and Cookery, combining his expertise in hunting and culinary arts.

Beyond writing, Sam's passions include exploring long-abandoned homesteads and remote 19th-century mining sites, long-distance hiking, and single-track bicycle racing. He currently resides in Southern Arizona with his wife, Judy, and their 18-year-old feline companion, Meow.
